Frequently asked questions.
- Is the residency paid?
- Yes. We pay residents a $4,000/month stipend, cover travel for the NYC kickoff and customer onsites, and provide model and API credits as needed.
- Can I keep my day job?
- Nope. The 8 weeks are full‑time.
- Do I need to be in the US?
- Realyz is mostly remote, but you’ll need to work in US time zones (anywhere from Pacific to Eastern) so customer calls happen during business hours. The kickoff is 3 days in NYC, with onsite trips to customers as needed.
- Do you sponsor visas?
- No. You need to be legally authorized to work in the US during the residency (US citizen, green card, F‑1 OPT, or similar) and able to travel into the US for the kickoff and customer onsites.
- Why not just take an FDE job?
- An FDE job is a multi‑year commitment to one company. The residency is an 8‑week sprint on a modern AI‑native stack, end‑to‑end customer ownership from Day 1, a feedback system designed to accelerate your growth, and eight peers shipping alongside you.
- Is this a bootcamp?
- Only Week 0. After that, no lectures, no exercises, no capstone. You ship production AI for a real customer.
- What happens after the 8 weeks?
- You leave with an anonymized case study of what you shipped and the outcome, and a reference letter from your senior. You join the alumni network of past residents, seniors, and future cohorts. Office hours don’t stop after the residency. You’re welcome anytime. We can introduce you to companies hiring FDEs, and may invite you back as a Senior resident in a future cohort.
- What if the deployment fails?
- You keep the case study and reference letter either way. Your senior writes an honest account of what you did and how you handled it.
- Is this too junior for me?
- No. The bar matches a top FDE role. It’s harder than most jobs, not easier.
- Can I bring my own customer or problem?
- Yes, we welcome it. We’ll vet the customer to make sure their problem fits the program. No guarantee we’ll take them on.
